The Timbarra, Little, Tambo and Nicholson Rivers are the largest waterways within the Tambo and Nicholson Basin. The basin contains some significant wetlands. The basin also supports a substantial farming community from the upper Tambo Valley to Nicholson and Swan Reach where the water flows into the Gippsland Lakes via Lake King.
