Further willow control has been completed on the Genoa River.
In the past year, willow control has been completed from Wangarabell to the highway bridge at Genoa, a distance of approximately 20 kilometres. This involved foliar spraying of small willows which had regrown since the last time this section of river was treated.
Controlling willows on the Genoa River aims to improve the water quality and the biodiversity of the river. It also assists with the natural regeneration of native species of plants within the riparian zone, and minimises the spread of willows downstream.
